Without getting into specifics of shady companies etc., I can tell you this. The GC process sponsored by an employer is indeed employ-centric in the sense that, it has to be initiated by an employer.
As long as they provide you with the necessary paperwork to enable you to travel (such as h1 or advance parole specific documentation), I see no issue with them not giving you this documentation.
I completely agree with you that it feels a lot better when you have a copy to look at.
However, if they do not give it out as a matter of policy, but, make sure that you have everything you need in case you want to travel, you should be okay.

EB3 I-140 is still March 30th, 2007, a whole year behind EB2. EB2 jumped from July 2007 to March 13th, 2008 UNBELIEVABLE :confused: Seems like they just want us to blow our brains out, or whatever little is left of it anyway... This is just so sick.
Just doesnt make sense at all.
Even EB1 is way behind EB2.
Maybe they are being sadist and trying to divide n rule.

not true,, the DOL does not do labor certification for backlogged cases anymore..this work has been transferred over from the State workforce agencies/state departments of labor to the backlog reduction centers..So....while, the DOL is a seperate agency, the labor backlogs is no longer handled by them, it is handled by the BPC..

Most likely SSA typed in wrong I-94 number and hence the verification would have failed from USCIS. Visit the local office again and ask them to verify all the information again. They can tell you the SSN in 2-3 days if everything checks out that should be enough to generate the payroll. The actual card takes 2-4 weeks.
I entered US through Logan on Dec 12th, 2007 and got i94 till Nov 2010.
When I applied for SSN at Norwood SSN office, they told me that the immigration dept have to cross verify my visa details and confirm them back which is still not done. Without SSN, Payroll is not generated. I have to return back to India in next 1 week. Can someone let me know the contact info of immigration people. Obviously using approved labor (or substitute labor) is a shady practice and many desi consulting companies are employing this scam. If they don't share this info with you, you can either:
1) Continue working with this company in the hope they are doing everything by the book and this will all work out
OR
2) Go work for a bonfide employer

I am not sure what you mean by there is no issue with my EAD.
Here is an excerpt from an USCIS FAQ
Who is eligible for an EAD that is valid for two years?
The two-year EAD is available to pending adjustment applicants (i.e., those who have filed a Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status) who have filed for an EAD under Section 274.a.12(c)(9) of Title 8, Code of Federal Regulations (8 C.F.R.) and who are currently unable to adjust status because an immigrant visa number is not currently available. USCIS will continue to grant EADs that are valid for one-year for adjustment applicants who have an available immigrant visa number and are filing for employment authorization under 8 C.F.R. Section 274a.12(c)(9). In order to be eligible for an EAD with a two year validity period, an applicant’s I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker, must be approved.

There is no limit as to how many companies can apply for your H1 transfer. 2 or 10 is the same.. The idea is to get a reply ASAP. I would suggest to apply under premium process

It is 200% certain that the politicians will not touch the immigration topic in the next one year. Even after best efforts of the president the immigration bill failed in the senate few months ago.
One and only one thing that can be tried before Nov 2008 is the recapture of visa numbers from the last five years. I think IV should push for that.
Other than the above not much can happen, get ready for really long cold winter and then a looong hot summer. I wish things were better.

there are no issues: your H1 and 485 are independent (until the 485 is approved, at which point your H1 is invalid). Until then, even if you have filed your 485, whether you have receipts or not you can keep filing extensions and getting new I-94s. You can also transfer your H1 around (better to do after 180 days and invoke AC21) whether you have a 485 receipt or not.
dont worry, go ahead and bump up your H1 extension to PP. As long as you qualify for the extension (LC >365 days or 140 approved) you will get it and your 485 continues getting processed independently.

How long the old I-140 needs to be valid ? Should it be valid only until one gets the new I-140 cleared with the Old PD ? Or does it needs to be valid until the 485 is filed and status is adjusted ?

I worked for my employer at this vendor. At the time, my employer agreed on paper to give me a specified amount but only after the vendor pays. Vendor has been giving him troubles as regards my pay, so my employer made me wait frustratingly for months to give me pay. Just recently only after much trouble he released part of the amount. But now he learnt that he might have to go to court about the vendor. As a result, now he is denying me MY remaining pay!! I already waited for 4 months now, and can NOT take this strain anymore. My friends advised me to take this issue to Court or DOL. But my employer threatens that I will have no case.
Is that so?? Am I really required to wait like this months/years long if it takes that long for my employer to settle his matter with vendor?? Can an employer actually follow these kind of practice? Please provide your experienced advises.
Also kindly let me know how can I proceed if I want to file a DOL complaint?

I have an approved 140 and I can get a letter mentioning future employment from my previous employer. I understand that I cannot apply for EAD since I will not be working for them, however, what additional steps do I need to take to invoke 'AC21 portability'?. Since I am assuming my 485 will take more than 180 days.

This GC became more like lottery. I sent my documents to lawyer on Jun 25th and he did not file on 2nd and now he is asking me whether to file or not. If my lawyer and employer are that cooperative, I do not need to waste my time on this forum.

Hi,
I got RFE as PAchai_Attai, the difference is he got NOID.
My attorney has submitted evidences a week ago, still now no updates on my 485.
I have not got tracking # from attorney, he sent email that he submitted evidences. He said he can not check which is my track # used to my case in his office.
He said I have to wait long time to see updates on my case, becuase USCIS is receiving applications in flood.
These Evidences supposed to received by USCIS before Aug 13th. My case is at NSC.
I am in confusion that how to deal this.
Please advise.
